Cannabis-Infused Sugar

Overview

Cannabis-infused sugar is a versatile ingredient that can be used in baking or mixed into beverages. It is created by combining a cannabis tincture with granulated sugar and gently evaporating the alcohol, leaving behind infused crystals.

Ingredients

  • 3 grams cannabis flower
  • ½ cup high-proof alcohol (such as Everclear)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Equipment

  • Mason jar with lid
  • Baking sheet
  • 9" × 13" baking dish
  • Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer
  • Oven

Instructions

Step 1: Decarboxylate the Cannabis

This process activates cannabinoids prior to infusion.

  1. Preheat oven to 225°F.
  2. Spread cannabis evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove and allow to cool before use.

Step 2: Create Cannabis Tincture

  1. Place decarboxylated cannabis in a mason jar.
  2. Add high-proof alcohol until fully covered.
  3. Seal tightly and shake every 5 minutes for 20 minutes.

Step 3: Strain and Combine

  1. Strain mixture through cheesecloth into a bowl, discarding plant material.
  2. Mix the strained liquid evenly with granulated sugar.
  3. Spread mixture evenly in a 9" × 13" baking dish.

Step 4: Evaporate Alcohol

  1. Bake at 200°F.
  2. Stir occasionally as the alcohol evaporates.
  3. Continue until sugar is dry and lightly golden.
